Update: Lined and colored. Never really meant for this to go past sketch phase, but I like it a lot, and I had time to kill. Hoping it gets me in the mood to finish some other things I've sat on a while.
Been really loving the old Beetlejuice cartoon all over again. It's one of the cartoons I watched a lot as a child (it aired between when I went into kindergarten to my second grade year).
I was watching "Recipe for Disaster", and Lydia falls screaming down a hole and BJ catches her and they both land safely. I took a more serious route with the scene than the "pair-a-shootes" that actually happened, but I wanted to draw this pretty badly. I think I was subconsciously making up for drawing a super-creeper BJ on the back of a receipt that was based on a particular bit from another episode.
I realize that the BJ-Lydia relationship is kind of creeptastic on its own.. BJ is a middle-aged conman with a streak of pervert and all lazy slob who hangs around a 14-year-old girl. But, BJ is pretty immature whatever his age, and Lydia is very mature, so it kind of evens itself out. I love the show anyway.
Edit: And I've noticed some people bring up the "necrophilia" issue if they'd ever go romantic, and honestly, it's no worse than a human and a vampire gettin' all hanky-panky.
